Alternate Member, Blackfeet Nation, Royalty Policy Committee
Harry Barnes was named as an alternate member of the Department of Interior’s Royalty Policy Committee. Members of the committee advise Secretary Zinke “on policy and strategies to improve management of the multi-billion dollar, federal and American Indian mineral revenue program.”
Harry Barnes is the Chairman of the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council; he was elected to the council in June 2014 and was elected Chairman by his fellow council members in July 2014. “Prior to running for council,” he ran “a successful construction business and supplies store.” Barnes has also been involved with Blackfeet Advanced Technologies, a “tribal enterprise” that worked in “the field of Adaptive Lightweight Materials.” According to data available on the Montana Secretary of State’s website, Blackfeet Advanced Technologies was involuntarily dissolved in 2013.
