After attending North Carolina State University, Lori Mashburn went to work at the Institute on Religion and Democracy, a think tank that has denounced “Christian advocacy on behalf of the poor” as “worshiping ‘big government.'” Then in 2011, Mashburn went to work for conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation, which receives considerable funding from ExxonMobil and the Koch brothers.
