Donald Trump Presidential Campaign

As the Deputy State Director for Donald Trump’s North Carolina operation, Playforth was described by then-state campaign manager Earl Phillip as “my right-hand man.” Phillip was later sued by another staffer who claimed Phillip had pulled a gun on him and top campaign officials refused to intervene. The lawsuit was eventually dismissed.

Playforth filled in temporarily after Phillip left in August 2016 but the position ultimately went to another Republican staffer.

When Playforth was hired, he said: “it is truly a privilege to be working alongside Mr. Trump, supporting his vision to Make America Great Again, one that I feel resonates strongly among North Carolina voters. Mr. Trump’s record of success and strong leadership is unmatched in this election. I look forward to working with the staff and volunteers here in North Carolina, to make sure his message is heard by the great people of our state.”
